I have developed a seroma – a collection of of fluid – under my arm which has been aspirated every week since I have been home. So I have had a weekly visit to the hospital since being discharged. They say it should all just get reabsorbed by the body in time, but this could be one month, three months or a year. Great fun then. It looks like it will need aspirating every Friday for the foreseeable future then.

Had another hospital appointment today. The up side is I have ‘good’ cancer, but after a long discussion and deliberation and typical hospital bureaucracy, it was decided that I am having chemotherapy some time soon. No plan of action was forthcoming, but this is okay as we have a slight infection and maybe some cellulitis to get rid of first. All this will take around 4 to 6 months and then I can start to feel better or work towards getting better.

I am trying to walk for about forty minutes to an hour a day, but sometimes 30 minutes is all I can manage. I try to keep the shoulder and arm going stop help reduce the soreness and stiffness and sometimes the slight pain I am getting.

Thank you for everything from everyone, the cards and flowers really do get me a lift and though I feel overwhelmed by them all I do feel extremely grateful that I know so many lovely people.

Thank you.

We are off to the Lake District for a short break – hopefully for some R and R. I will be reading and walking and the boys will be riding the bikes.

Love Helen x

Well here we are four weeks after surgery and I am shattered most of the time, hey, what am I saying I am shattered all of the time!!
