Once again another big thank you for all your emails, cards and flowers that all convey such lovely thoughts and positive words. I am failing miserably to answer them individually. I hope you aren’t offended, but I can’t seem to concentrate for very long at the moment, I get too emotional when I read them / receive them and generally have hospital ‘stuff’ to sort out too. So sorry, but thank you for everything you have done. I do feel overwhelmed at times by your kindness and generous thoughts, but good about them too.
We had a lovely week in the Lakes last week, the weather was good (only two days of rain), the walks were lovely and it was good to get away for all of us. It did highlight though that I am limited in how I move and I notice how foreign everything is at the minute. I am sure I will get used to the compromise all this surgery insists you adjust to over time.
I am healing well, increasing my range of movement and slowly getting used to the ‘new’ physical me – it will take some time to get used to the ‘new’ me I think. As I have thought about it I have few scars on the outside, but inside there is a lot healing to do – physically and psychologically.
We now know I am starting chemotherapy in a week or so and in anticipation of this – and to help Tom adjust – I have had my hair cut short. Something else to get used to. We will be having six sessions of treatment, so this should take us to mid August. As a result there is a lot to do in a short period of time in preparation for it – being healthy, not tired and as relaxed as one can be for this ‘new’ and trying experience.
My twenty minutes of concentration are now up and I am getting tired. Sorry. Thank you again.
Take care.
Helen
